The world is becoming more and more anxious concerning the unfold of fake videos and photos, and Adobe — a name synonymous with edited imagery — says it faces those issues too. Recently, it’s sharing new research in collaboration with scientists from UC Berkeley that makes use of machine learning to detect when images of faces have been edited robotically to robotically catch when images of faces have been edited.

The research is mainly designed to detect edits made with Photoshop’s Liquify tool, which is often used to regulate the shape of faces and modify facial expressions. “The tool’s results can be delicate which made it an intriguing test case for detecting each drastic and delicate alterations to faces,” mentioned Adobe.
To create the software program, engineers trained a neural community on a database of paired faces, adding images both before and after they’d been edited employing Liquify.
